So, I recently installed Fedora on my shiny new Samsung 840 EVO SSD, and have set it up somewhat how I like. However, I found that the default music player in Gnome, Rhythmbox, would not import .mp3 and .m4a files. If you, like me, have run into this problem, hopefully this blog post will help you import your precious musical files.

After rummaging through various forums, installing gstreamer and gstreamer1 plugins haphazardly, I found this post which suggested installing the gstreamer1-libav package. I did so, restarted Rhythmbox, and huzzah! It now imports and plays .mp3 and .m4a files.

I suggest installing the following files to get everything working:

gstreamer1-plugins-bad
gstreamer1-plugins-ugly
gstreamer1-plugins-good-extras
gstreamer1-plugins-bad-extras
gstreamer1-plugins-bad-free-extras
gstreamer1-plugins-bad-freeworld
gstreamer1-libav

Those should be enough. If not, please let me know in the comments and I'll correct it. I hope this is helpful to some lost soul.
